Portishead - Mysterons
There are an array of instuments used in this piece, such as electronic drums, synthesiser, guitar, vocals and other computerised loops and effects, such as the vinyl scratches in the introduction to the song.
There are effects on most of the instruments, the electronic drums are distorted slightly to give them an edgy, dirty sort of sound. The guitar is altered with reverb and chorus effect and the slightest amount of distortion. The vocals are sung to sound quite haunting and sad. the Synthesiser has a very mellow feel to it in the chorus and sounds quite jazzy. In the verses it sounds much more like a theremin (pictured below). (Theremin)
The time signature of the piece is 4/4 and the tempo is around 90bmp and is an Andante tempo. The drums use a syncopated rhythm using the main beats upon two and four. The structure of the piece is a simple ABABABAB four of each fading in at the beginning and fading out at the end.
