Marcel Khalifé (1950 ~ ) is a highly skilled oud player from Lebanon His skill has allowed him to overcome the strict techniques required to play the lute-esque instrument and create new sounds unheard of in standard playing.

Caress/Mouda’aba

The album contains many different features, such as the oud, glockenspiel, piano and bongos.

The songs have a latin/spanish sound to them, especially with the sound of the oud playing complex melodies unaccompanied, and the use of rimshots. The songs are mainly Marcel on the oud usually accompanied by another stringed instument (guitar, double bass) with the piano occasionally dominating (With all the Love) or even the double bass dominating (Al Hambra features sporadic piano and bongos as well)

Despite variation between songs, the music tends to grate, and extended listens become less enjoyable.

Chaza has a classical Eastern European feel.

With all the Love has a jazzy feel

Samai Bayati has a spanish/indian feel

Granada sounds as if it could be played on the sitar i.e. it is in a classical indian style with bending and rapid melodies.
