came about. It was supported by most and tickets were sold in Venice for Monterverdi’s works. On of his most important followers, Francesco Cavalli, spread the influence of Opera throughout the country. The early Baroque Operas included a wide range of emotions, like comedy and tragic elements of pathos and darker themes of murder and betrayal.
